The Leapmotor B01 has recorded 10,132 firm orders within 72 hours of its July 14 launch, announced by Leapmotor’s official Weibo account. This pure-electric A+ class sedan is definitely a black horse in China’s RMB 90,000–120,000 (≈USD 12,500–16,700) EV segment.

Popularity Focused on Long-Range Version and Young Buyers

The model offers 6 trims with 430km, 550km, and 650km CLTC ranges, pricing from RMB 89,800 (≈USD 12,500) to RMB 119,800 (≈USD 16,700). According to the data provided by the company, 650km long-range version accounts for 72% of the orders. Demographically, 75% of buyers are under 35 years old, with female consumers representing 48%.

Specifications and Advanced Technologies

The B01, the first model based on Leapmotor’s B-platform, measure 4,770mm (L) × 1,880mm (W) × 1,490mm (H) with a 2,735mm wheelbase. Built under the LEAP 3.5 architecture, the B01 adopts Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SA8295P automotive-grade chip for its smart cabin, an L2 combined driver-assistance system, and lidar paired with a Snapdragon 8650 processor for its LiDAR Editions.

Positioning Against Competitors in China’s A+ Sedan Market

B01 has a market positioning directly challenges its formidable rivals including the XPeng Mona M03, BYD Qin Plus EV, and Tesla Model 3 in China’s A+ sedan category.
